It is because Lingua Guild is a small company that it is able to offer big advantages.

  • Meticulous translation
  • From single-line catch copy to full-length manuscripts
  • Lingua Guild’s diverse network

Lingua Guild was established by a group of translators working for grass roots organizations in the 1960s and 1970s with the goal of linking and promoting exchange between citizens of Asian countries. Its history since being established in 1983 spans over three decades.

The combining of lingua (meaning language) and guild (meaning an association of artisans) in its name reflects the company’s organizing principle as a “professional association of translators whose craft is language.”

Translation is one form of communication between people that uses language as an intermediary. Lingua Guild is one result of the many efforts to link people separated by various “borders,” and, as an association of language artisans, it aspires to meticulous, high quality translation that helps build new relationships between people.

Meticulous translation

At Lingua Guild, all translations undergo a final check whereby original and translated texts are compared side-by-side by Japanese staff and a native speaker of the original (or target) language. We value clients’ feedback and work diligently to resolve issues and answer questions regarding the translation, repeating this process until a final version that is acceptable to the client is produced.

From single-line catch copy to full-length manuscripts

At Lingua Guild, we are able to respond flexibly to our client’s needs, from single-line catch copy to company reports to academic manuscripts related to politics, economics, gender, and other social science fields.
